Clifford's Perennial and Vine Inc. is headquartered in Paw Paw, Michigan, with a satellite nursery located in Lewisburg, Tennessee. We initially were from Wisconsin and moved to Michigan in order to enjoy better growing conditions. A micro-climate along the shores of Lake Michigan allows us to grow the best perennials possible. Our county is comprised mainly of vineyards and orchards. Welches, St Julians, Musselmans and others have operations here to take advantage of the many growers who also settled here.
We are a wholesaler of finished, potted perennials. The bulk of our production begins with stage 3 tissue culture and the sticking of cuttings, in our 1 acre state-of-the-art greenhouse. Thanks to new technology, our greenhouse can produce 3-4 times as much product as just four years ago, using the same amount of space, raw material and energy. This is sustainability at its best. All the product at both locations is grown (finished) entirely outdoors, offering consumers well acclimated plants able to tolerate a wide range of environmental conditions.
Clifford's Perennials has been a leader in producing top garden-worthy plants for over three decades. We value greatly the gardening success of the consumer, whether they're a casual novice or a serious plant buff. In such, we aim to provide high quality items that have been tested and proven to perform well in a variety of garden settings.
We are continually seeking to improve our perennial assortments to best suit the ever changing consumer market. The fastest way to achieve desired quantities of new plant varieties is through a process called tissue culture. Tissue culture (cloning) allows us to offer the newest and best plants before the competition does.
Our emphasis is on quart and 1 pot size containers, but some plants are also offered in 2 pot containers. Each is wintered in the field, producing hardy plants with large, healthy root systems. Clifford's is able to optimize the growing season for both spring and summer availability with two nursery locations.
Clifford's currently supplies product to many states from the midwest and plains states to the mid-south states and east coast as far north as New York. We understand the needs of consumers in each of these areas and have the capacity to service multiple outlets on a large-scale level.
