Pond Perfect Plants™ is a line of perennials for use in a pond or a stream landscape. Some of these perennials can be grown in water (submerged) or can be used along the edge of a water feature.
We will be launching this new line of perennials with Japanese Iris. These should be used in rich soil that stays moist. Each year Japanese Iris set new roots on top of the previous year's roots, eventually working themselves out of the ground. Therefore, it is best to replant Japanese Iris every 3 years.
The new hybrids of Japanese Iris are dramatic and stunning. Their lovely flowers are delicate but large, and can reach sizes comparable to dinner plates. They add an architectural element to the garden especially next to any water feature. The Japanese iris is indespensible in a Japanese garden, and works wonderfully with a koi pond.
When landscaping a pond using Mexican pebbles along the perimeter, try using iris in mass planting among the pebbles. It's a hit!
