We exhibited at this show to gage koi and pond plant sales for retail garden centers. The general response was it's a new and growing department, with lots of interest in healthy, premium koi, from show quality broodstock, for their knowledgeable customers. They also said they had plenty of mediocre suppliers that do zillions of koi cheap. We will have very limited stocks due to heavy culling and limited space. We can only afford to keep the very best.

Dan Heims of Terra Nova nursery stopped to take a look at the koi. He along with Ken Brown run one of the best nurseries globally. Dan's a plant hunter, hybridizer, and plant collector. His hybrids have revolutionized the perennial industry and inspired many a new hybridizer. Dan's also a marine biologist, thus his interest in koi.
